Eight Miles

I ran eight miles this morning at North Chagrin. This is my longest run since May. I did not exactly work my way up to it like you are supposed to do. It kind of just happened and I am happy about it. I had some things to think through and it was a cool morning and even rained lightly.

One of the best feelings a runner can have is when he or she is looking forward to the next run. That is how I feel today.

Running in the Rain

Ran the last two mornings in Mayfield Village on the trail that begins near Wiley Park on 91. If you don't know where Wiley Park is don't worry about it. They are putting the new Police Department right about where 2nd base is a little later this year. Anyway that is not important, at least not to law abiding me.

It is nice to get out in the morning and get the workout completed. Today I ran in the rain and really enjoyed it. Most runners would agree that there is nothing wrong with a light rain and warm temperatures. I am getting there.

Saturday Running

Easy going run today to Highland Heights Park and through my neighborhood. I think everyone is getting ready to go back to school, because there was not much going on. Everyone is at Target or Walmart is my suspicion. I am guessing that for teachers and students, most summer days seem like rest of the year Saturdays. Reality is about to set in.

For me, during this time of career transition, most days seem like work days. It was nice to get my run in. But when I came home, I had and still have stuff to do.

Cleveland Metropark Zoo

First race for me since March. It was ok, but not great. I like the course through the zoo. I am better than average at hills, so that helped me a little. What is the secret to staying in shape? Consistency is at least part of the answer.

I have noticed that I like to provide wildlife reports in my blog postings. This time I saw lots of birds and caught a glimpse of Donner on vacation in Cleveland.

Not Much

I half-heartedly left the house with no plan except to just run around the neighborhood. Nothing into it, nothing out of it. I would have been better off watering the grass in the rain. Tomorrow is another and hopefully better day.

It better be a better day, because I am going to the run at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in the morning - "Race for Children's Sake."

White Pines

As I have done so many times over the years, today I drove the short 3 miles to North Chagrin and went for a nice, easy run on the trails. Most times, I don't stop to smell the roses or read the signs or talk to anyone. I did read a sign today about white pines and how there are only 14 of them left in the park and how they were born in 1700's and "white" has five letters and I forget the rest. I don't think I will be reading any more signs on my next run.

It is not what you say that matters

I am taking my own good advice. I am now committed to running the River Run in September. I love this race and need to get going with more consistent running and training. I have a rule about not posting how many miles I run each day - seems kind of boring to me. Well not to me, but to anyone who may read this blog. I am taking my own advice about declaring for a race and now I am going to break my own rule about posting what should be in a daily log in a desk drawer.

8/4 - 1.5 miles
8/5 - 2.o miles

Hermes Cleveland

We are lucky in Cleveland to have Hermes to organize us runners. Check out their site and pick a race. This is a great way to get and stay motivated.

Dog Walk

We like to take the dog to the park on Sunday morning. She is not the smartest dog, but we think she now knows the word "park." She gets all waggy and runs right to the car whenever we say something like, "let's go to the park."

Today's running report - 3.3 miles in about 31 minutes - Hey it's a start. I ran home from the park after the dog walk. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Bike Ride with Wife

Perfect day for being outside. We took the bikes to South Chagrin for an easy ride through the park. Riding the hills on the bike was a great workout. Saw horses (pun!), one deer, many dogs, etc.

I wanted to post a picture of my wife here, but I am not allowed to photograph her with a bike helmet on. Women will understand, and men never will.
